“You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.” Richard Buckminster Fuller
The month of a pivotal election in the United States includes a number of astronomical-astrological energies, both old and new. Every November the Sun shifts from passionate Scorpio into futuristic Sagittarius, therefore every election year sees the final weeks leading up to election day as weeks when tensions, emotions and tempers can run high. And every November we then enter into the time of Sagittarius, a time of seeking higher meaning, a quest for purpose and of looking to the future, which Sagittarius rules. These are every November dynamics.
This year Scorpion emotions and sensitivities are beautifully offset with a Grand Water Trine. Mercury and Vulcan in Scorpio form one point of this flexing Grand Trine at the beginning of the month, with Mars – Scorpio’s own ruling planet – in the sign of Cancer forming another and Neptune retrograde in Pisces, the third. A Grand Trine is the most harmonious of all angular aspects possible. While water is about emotions, it is also about compassion, connection and the deep understanding of one another we all aspire to on the highest levels. Neptune retrograde as part of this trine supports the most spiritual potential possible in any chart. It literally translates as “Sacrament,” and “Paradise.”
Because these three “corners” are on the cusps of their respective signs, Mercury shifts from Scorpio into Sagittarius on the 3rd and Vulcan does the same on the 5th while Mars shifts into the sign of Leo on the 4th. These are huge shifts at a critical time, adding fire to the Grand Trine. While this can sometimes weaken the primary element, it also creates more movement. Adding fire to water creates steam. Leo brings love and heart into the mix, while Sagittarius incorporates our highest aspirations and these will become a stronger driving force, we all hope, for the good.
