August into September we receive yet another rare phenomenon after the rarity experienced last month. We’re through August – thank Goodness according to many of you – and a unique time in history when once again we must remember the infamous words above of Dr. Douglas Baker: “The Soul loves a challenge!” The personality doesn’t necessarily love challenges, however, so it’s a great time to remember who we truly are and ponder the rewards of the challenges we have undergone.

On August 23 we went through a New Moon in Virgo. On September 7 we undergo a Full Moon in Virgo, then on September 21 we have yet another New Moon in Virgo. Two Full Moons in the same sign or month names the second one a Blue Moon. The second of a New Moon in the same sign is called a Black Moon. To make this even more unique, the August New Moon was in 0 degrees of Virgo – and we discussed the importance of beginning degrees in the last column – the Full Moon is in 15 degrees and the second New Moon is in 29 degrees; the beginning, the end and the perfect equilibrium of the middle . . . in the month of the Fall Equinox!

But we’re still not done. The Full moon this month is also a full lunar eclipse while the New Moon is a partial solar eclipse. For all of you with a heavy or important emphasis of Virgo in your charts, pay attention! For a quick recap on New vs Full Moons which we’ve discussed in past columns, New Moons are when you can plant the seeds of what comes next, a new project, birth of an idea or belief and begin to nurture them. Full Moons are when they come to fruition and blossom. With the 0 degrees to launch this unique pattern, it’s safe to assume the planet itself is launching onto a new Path, complete with the upheaval, challenges and fear of starting something new and unknown, but also with the excitement and hope associated with the same ideas. Ending degrees are about understanding and using well those new lessons, experiences and ideas.

Eclipses lend a great deal more weight to this whole equation, offering transformation – ready or not – as does the Virgo – Pisces axis. The New Moons are both actually in the sign of Pisces, but we always name them by the sign the Sun is traveling through. Pisces is the unknown, the hidden and dark but also, the sign of the Christ Consciousness while Virgo is the Divine Mother. If you’re getting the sense that anything could happen . . . good sense!
