          As we do every year, we launch the New Year and this month with a heavy dose of Capricorn in our skies and we end this month with an even heavier dose of Aquarius. While this is common for January, it is not every year that Pluto joins the Aquarian parade across our skies, making six planets in total, half of the zodiacal planets we work with. That’s a lot of Aquarius, so it seems a good time to understand what the Age of Aquarius is about. Many people think Aquarius is a water sign but in fact, it’s an air sign. The Water Bearer pours out the waters of spiritual knowledge for spiritually thirsty people. The “water” pouring forth from the Water Bearer is knowledge and revelation. As Douglas Baker said, “In baptism, we have a symbolic enactment of the force of Aquarius bringing man to knowledge of the Divine.”

The last Age, the Age of Pisces was the age of “I Believe,” and “I Don’t Know!” But today, blind faith is not enough. People want to know the facts so that they can decide for themselves; they want answers to the deeper questions: Who are we? Where do we come from? Why are we here? and, Where do we go from here? During the Age of Pisces, the age when the “Fisher of Men” gave inspiration to what became Christianity, the urn was filling as the Christ sowed the seeds of the concept of universal brotherhood and love. The seed found fertile ground so that today, it is time for the watering of that seed, for the urn to pour forth its “water.” This is the time to clear away the barriers of ignorance, separation and inequality so that universal love can fully manifest.

This is the Sign of “I Know!” The Sign of Aquarius is rising over the horizon in the horoscope of planet Earth and therefore governing the Soul of all humanity. The time has come for both the seeker AND the distributor of truth and knowledge. A keyword for Aquarius is, “Enlightenment.” This is the only sign of the Zodiac depicting a human. The human figure of Aquarius is pouring forth the waters of knowledge, enlightenment and light to nurture the seeds of universal love. The water Aquarius pours out is often depicted in two streams: the River of Life and the River of Love. Not form, not mind, but Life and Love.

Everyone: Moving further and further away from our animal nature through the symbolism of water and purification, arriving in Aquarius means that we now have passed the synthesis of Soul and personality and we begin to learn how to BE the Soul, through the human form.
