VIRGO, LIBRA & SCORPIO
“The world is full of magic things patiently waiting for our senses to grow
sharper.” W. B. Yeats
We have mentioned the progression of evolution as we trip around the zodiac: from baby in Aries, toddler in Taurus to marriage in Libra and then the focus on others as we continue to the end. One of the most fascinating progressions concerns the succession of Virgo, followed by Libra and then Scorpio.
As we enter the season of Virgo this month it is worth pondering upon the entanglement of these three signs. Many eons ago astrologers used only 10 signs, but that system didn’t work so well. So, one sign, The Claws was split to create Virgo and Scorpio with Libra dropped in between. The Claws was thought to look like a scorpion with large claws which also looked like scales. Once Libra became associated with the Vernal Equinox and balance, its association with Scorpio’s claws faded and Astraeia, the goddess of justice was partnered with Libran law. Until then, Astraeia had always
been associated with the constellation Virgo , so that association also faded until we now have three distinct signs. But the entanglement continues.
An ancient book (quoted in other books which have lost its title) says: “Virgo is the witch who prepares the ingredients which are weighed in the balances of Libra, and in Scorpio, the magic is carried forward.” This means that in Virgo I discovered Christ in myself; in Libra I fluctuate between pairs of opposites – form and Christ nature – until I attain balance and equilibrium is reached. In Scorpio I am tested as to which will triumph, form or the Christ within, Real or unreal, Truth or illusion.” Wonderful things to ponder as we enter the next three months.
