When I think of Cancer, I have the sensation of flowing, rounded, silky, dreamy waters. Cancer is the Dreamer and as such, the World is her Oyster; we can dream anything. In our dreams we can fly, look beautiful, be successful on whatever level we most aspire to: physical, spiritual, emotional. . . fall in love. Brenda Heim’s painting (www.heimart.com) evokes just such a feel, soft, dreamy, sensual. Here we see the swirling fog, the hint of lavender dreams and barely-forms. Cancer’s job is to lift the veil, tear aside the fog, find the True Form within the Unreality. The name of this painting is “Grace Unfolding.” Totally appropriate for Cancer.
This abstract sculpture is by my friend and artist, Doug Hays. www.doughaysart.com. This too, feels Cancerian. One of the powers of Cancer is to use dreams as a tool for spiritual communication. I see the small circles as man/woman starting at a point of consciousness that is of this world; then as he/she falls asleep, gradually going into a deeper realm, until suddenly an explosion of Higher Consciousness is possible; the higher Self in Communion with the All in One. The 3 large concentric circles could be the Trinity. It can all also represent an out of body experience – from the small to the great. A lovely expression.
Sleep that knits up the ravell’d sleeve of care,
The death of each day’s life, sore labour’s bath
Balm of hurt minds, great nature’s second course,
Chief nourisher in life’s feast. — Macbeth
